These symptoms point to a failed control board (part 8523665). Since the new membrane switch key panel does not work, the control board itself is probably bad.

You can check the ribbon cable of the new membrane switch keypad for damage. If you see no problems, make sure that you plug it into the control board connector properly. If it still won't work then there is a slight chance that you have a bad replacement part.

There is not a test available to check the membrane switches on this model, the next step in troubleshooting this problem is to replace the electronic control board. I realize that this is an expensive part but it will likely fix that problem.

Here is a Sears PartsDirect.com link for the electronic control board: Microcomputer

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

I have purchased parts off the web and had no problems with them. There are also times when I have had problems with parts that I purchased from that source. You have a legitimate concern regarding the old membrane switch working (except for the start button) and the new one not working at all. Make sure that you have the correct part number for the new membrane switch. I noted above that there is a slight chance that the replacement part is defective. If the part is used or the wrong part, then that chance increases. Maybe you can return the part that you purchased off the web. I hope that it cost significantly less than the price on the Sears PartsDirect.com website. On the Sears PartsDirect.com website, the white membrane keypad costs around $130. The part number is 8272997 (see link below). It may be better to order one more of the membrane switch keypads from the Sears PartsDirect.com source and see if that fixes your range before spending a higher amount on a control board. Let me know if you need more help.

Q:

How do I fix the error code F2 on my Kenmore range model 66595792000?

A:

On this model of range, the F2 indicates a problem with the membrane keypad. The F2 error code is usually displayed along with an E0 (Key held down too long or shorted key), an E1 (Ribbon connector unplugged or damaged) or an E6 (Cancel key failure). You can try unplugging the range for 2 minutes and then plugging it back in. If the fault code reappears, then you will need to unplug the range and check the ribbon connector for damage. Make sure that it is properly plugged into the control board. The image below shows the procedures for accessing the control board on this type of range. If you find no problems with the ribbon connector, then the membrane keypad will need to be replaced. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Use your model number to access and order the correct part.
