Question and Answers

Q:

Where is thermal fuse located for a Kenmore triple task oven drawer?

A:

The thermal fuse for the oven drawer is Key 26 in the image below. It is located on the back of the drawer box (Key 17). It will have blue/white and yellow wires attached to it. Be sure to unplug the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing this component. You should be able to access it from the back of the range. To check this fuse (with the range unplugged), pull at least one wire off and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity). If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

The part number for the thermal fuse is 9756299. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com .

A:

On my Kenmore Ultra Bake # 665.92179300 the thermal fuse for the task drawer is behind the right side panel on the lower back side. Just pull the screws from the back of the side panel, pull it out a bit at the bottom and squeeze in to replace the fuse.

Q:

Why does it take forever to boil water on my glass cook top surface?

A:

Usually the problem is the pot or pan being used. It must be flat so that the entire surface is making contact with the glass.

Use cookware about the same size as the surface cooking area. Cookware should not extend more than 1" (2.5 cm) outside the area.

Use flat-bottomed cookware for best heat conduction and energy efficiency. Cookware with rounded, warped, ribbed or dented bottoms could cause uneven heating and poor cooking results.

Determine flatness by placing the straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware. While rotating the ruler, no space or light should be visible between it and the cookware.

Cookware designed with slightly indented bottoms or small expansion channels can be used.

If your pots and pans are perfectly flat and you still have issues with the top burners I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your range.
