Q:

kenmore electric range

A:

I understand that your broiler will not turn off. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I must assume you mean the broil element will not turn off and it continues to heat even though the OFF/CANCEL button was pushed and display shows that you had cancel or turned off the oven. If this assumption is correct, the failure is either the oven control or a shorted broil element.

Now, it's not uncommon for the bake and broil elements to both cycle on and off in intervals during bake. The ULTRABAKE system electronically regulates the oven heat levels during preheat and bake to maintain a precise temperature range for optimal cooking results. The bake and broil burners cycle on and off in intervals. This feature is automatically activated when the oven is in use.

If the one of the two oven elements will not turn off, disconnect the range from the power supply and call for service in order to properly diagnose and repair your range.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why won't the broiler turn off in side my Kenmore range?

A:

Without knowing the model number of your range I will not be able to provide any model specific information. Generally speaking, if your range has an electronic oven control it likely has a stuck broil relay. This would mean that the control board will have to be replaced. The failure could be a shorted broil element too if it’s an electric range.

I recommend resubmitting your question with the model number for specific troubleshooting assistance.
