I found my problem by tracing the wires between the infinite switch and the surface element.

Sometimes there is a hard copy of that wiring diagram in the console of the range or attached to the back panel. I am glad that we could locate an electronic copy and provide it to you in this situation. If you ever need more help, let us know.

Q:

We have a Kenmore Ultra bake super capacity oven. Tried to turn on the self clean feature and received a E1-F5 code on screen. What does this mean?

A:

Oven error codes can be helpful once we have an explanation of the code. I did locate two similar questions that may help while you wait for the expert response. I attached the links below. I would suggest adding the complete model number to help the expert provide the best possible answer. I hope this information is helpful.

I know that it is very important to have your oven working properly. The E1 F5 error code indicates that the door latch is not operating (see image below).

Make sure that the oven door is closed when you start the Self Clean cycle. Check the door switch to see if it is apparently operating properly. Open the oven door and the oven light should turn on. Press in the door switch plunger and the light should turn off. If the light switch is not operating properly, it could cause this type of problem.

If the light switch is operating properly, then you could have a failed door latch assembly. A wiring failure or a problem with the control board could also cause this failure. I recommend that you unplug the range and access the door latch assembly at the back of the range. Pull the upper and lower back panels off of the range. Caution: The edges on these panels can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended. With the panels off, check the wire harness connections on the door latch assembly. The image below shows an image of this component. Also, check the wire harness connections on the back of the control board in the console. The partial wiring diagram below has the door latch wiring highlighted. If the connections are okay, then you may need to replace the door latch assembly or the control board. If you want to repair this problem yourself without further diagnosis, I recommend that you try replacing the door latch motor (a $40 part). If that does not fix the problem and you have no wiring problems, then the control board (a $300 part) may need to be replaced.

That E1 F-5 error code indicates that you have a failure in that oven door lock circuit. That second link for a previous answer that Pvalde2 posted in the above response may help you with this problem. I provided the image from that previous answer below this response. You could have a wiring failure or bad door lock mechanism. You can unplug the range and check the wiring on that door lock assembly.

If the wiring is okay, you may need to replace that oven door lock motor assembly.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician examine the refrigerator and repair this failure, you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .
