Q:

Oven Temperature Settings Electric Range Model# 665 92004102

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your range. Upon researching model66592004102; you can reset the unit by unplugging the range power cord for 1 minute then reapplying the power, if the problem persist then you may need to replace the electronic control board. The control board is the part that displays the readings for the temperature so when the readings are disordered or unclear the control board is responsible. I have posted a link below of the electronic control board.

I trust this information will help you, have a great day.

Q:

Kenmore range 665.95004102 replaced touchpad part #8273574 (unavailable) with #8272997 (different color) and touchpad does not respond

A:

The range not working with after the parts being replaced can be most frustrating. I did some research on your model and part numbers but was not able to find an answer to your question. Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take 24-48 hours. I do hope that everything works out on the range.

After replacing the keypad, the Next step on tech sheet for E0-F2 error is to replace the control (microcumputer) if the error comes back... Ouch!, see part list link below

This isn't an issue of the error coming back. The new keypad does not respond when installed. The old one, when reinstalled, still works.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "E0/F2" fault indicates a button was pushed and held too long. If you push and hold any button too long, "E0/F2" will display. If one of the buttons is sticking, it will also display "E0/F2". The color of the touch pad would not make any difference.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Yes, I'm aware of what the E0/F2 error is. The issue has been occasionally recurring over about two months. When it did it the first time, I did some research and found the issue is usually the touchpad. I the control board off and didn't find any issues so I put it back together. The problem went away for two weeks. When it came back again, I took the touchpad out, cleaned whatever I could off of it and its mounting surface, and I also cleaned the contacts on the ribbon cable (keytail?) with an alcohol swab. The problem went away for a month. We lost power for two days due to Sandy and when it came back on, the range was giving me the E0/F2 error again so I decided it's time to replace the touchpad. Before I go to the trouble of trying to swap touchpads again, I'm looking for confirmation that part #8272997 is a substitute for part #8273574 and that the only difference is the color of the touchpad. The part I purchased is #8272997. When installed, the touchpad does not function. The control panel displays the clock and "PF" after power is returned just as it should, but the touchpad does nothing. With the original touchpad reinstalled, it works fine. I believe the ribbon cable is also considered the keytail? The cables don't look 100% the same between the two part numbers.

Nathan: The key pad you installed is the same as the original except for the color. It should work but based on your details it must be faulty if the old one will work. The flat ribbon connectors should be the same with the same amount of wires/circuits. At this time I must assume part #8272997 is faulty.

I installed the new touchpad again and it still doesn't work. I've attached two pictures of the ribbon cables. In the first picture, the new one is on the left and the old on the right. The difference is the fourth contact from the right side of the cable. On the new cable, there is no trace. On the old cable, the trace is tied in with the two contacts to the right. The second picture is just to show the part numbers.

Although I just noticed the hole under the fourth contact on the old cable which destroys that trace. I guess I need to contact SearsPartsDirect for a replacement.

That E0 F2 error code indicates that a key was held down for too long or that you have a shorted key on the control key panel. You will normally need to replace that key panel (part 8272997 for white or 8273574 for biscuit color) to fix this problem.

I recommend that you have a service technician replace that part. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details.
