I did not find information on model 22-78033 (665.78033) but I did find some information on model 22-78003 (665.78003). Based on your description (double oven gas range that is 4 years old), I suspect that you have the model 22-78003.

Based on that model number, I recommend that you check to see if the control is locked as shown in the image below. You mentioned that you see the Sab bath (Sabbath) mode designation in the display. The image below shows information on disabling that function on the range.

I suspect that you have already tried to clear the display using these procedures. If the display will still not work properly, then you will probably need to replace that clock control board and display. You can order that part from this page: Kenmore Elite Range Parts . Use the full model number of your range to access the parts diagram for your range. The model number may be on a tab on the back of the console. The tab will rotate up so that you can see the model number. If it is in that location it will be at the very top of the back of that console. The model number is sometimes on the side of the opening to the upper or lower oven. If you find that model number, then you may want to reply to this thread and post it so that we know which range that you have.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details (including the full model number if possible) and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Before scheduling service through above link, I recommend that you consider buying a Sears Service Smart Protection Agreement to cover this failure. That agreement would cost about $250 (about the same price that the control board would cost). It would cover this repair for parts and labor (up to $500 per repair visit) and it would continue to cover the range for an entire year. You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) to discuss the details of that agreement with a Sears agent and purchase it if necessary.

We are having an issue with our Kenmore range as well. Purchased in 2008, we had to replace the control board approx 2 years later. In October of last year we started having the same issues that led us to replace the board the first time. It cost nearly $500 in parts and labor to have the first one done so I decided to replace this one myself for just under $300. Everything is working except the lower oven. It comes on when you set the temp but starts and stays at 100 degrees. Upper oven is fine and clock and timers work as well. Any thoughts? Model is 665.78003802. Would like to avoid further repair costs on a fairly new range and brand new panel.

Hello Jim. You could have a problem with the bake ignitor on that low oven. Remove the lower panel and see if that bake ignitor glows when you set it in the bake mode. Here is a link for a brief video that explains the ignition process in the oven: Gas Ignition Operation . If the ignitor glows but the burner won't light, then you will probably need to replace that ignitor. Here is a direct link for that part: Bottom Oven Bake Ignitor Part 7432P143-60 . UNPLUG the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing internal components. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

Thank you for your question. I know it's frustrating when the oven stops working. Since the top burners are working ok, it does indicate the voltage to the unit is ok. If there is no display and nothing at all is working in the oven, this does lead to a defective control. First, disconnect the power and check the control for a loose connection. This will also reset the control.  If there is still no display and nothing works in the oven when the power is reconnected, the control will need to be replaced. If this is a black control use # W10194002 and for white # W10194003. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance reply to this thread and I will assist you further.

Go figure, I order the part and my oven works a few days later. Yup, the display was completely dead and I had 120 current to the board, tested with meter, and unplugged and plugged all the connections. It died last Wednesday night, ordered a part Thursday and then I wake up Sunday morning to a flashing clock that says 11:10, guessing it turned on at 11:10pm Saturday night??? I'm guessing I have a flaky board, or some component on it is starting to go. Everything works on the stove set the clock and both ovens heated up to 425. However, my son said he saw the board go blank around 200 and I watched it, after he said that, go to 425 with no issues and the clock was correct... so, who knows and it's still working???

Mike, this is a strange situation with the control but it does lead to the control or it could be a loose connection. I would hang on to the control you received. Now, if the control continues to work, it would not need to be replaced but it would be wise to keep a very close watch on it. If the display goes blank again and if the connections are ok, I would recommend replacing the control.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have clear understanding of enough details to understand the problem. I added a link to the Use and Care Guide in case you didn't have it to look over the operating instructions and features. Page 8 in the Use and Care Guide has information about the tones.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
