I was not able to access information on your range using the part number (80540000) that you submitted.

Here is some general information that may help:

  • Some Kenmore ranges have a cook top lock-out feature that will shut off gas to the cook top burners following a power failure. If your range has a cook top lock-out, I recommend that you refer to your owner's manual for instructions on shutting off the lock-out. If you don't have your manual, you can likely find it on our Manage My Life website using the owner's manual search tool. Click the MANUALS link at the top of the web page.

  • The image below shows how one type of Kenmore range control that has a cook top lock-out feature. In this type of range, you need to press and hold the LIGHT button for 3 deliberate seconds to disable the cook top lock-out. Look for a similar feature on your range if you are not able to find the owner's manual on our website.

These general tips may help. If you need more assistance, reply with additional information and an updated model number (if possible).

A:

That model of range (665.75842005) has a cooktop burner lock-out feature that cannot be overridden during a power outage. A solenoid valve will shut during a power outage to prevent gas from being supplied to the cooktop burners. This safety feature cannot be bypassed.

You may want to unplug the range for 5 minutes and see if you can reset that clock control board for the oven. NOTE: Since the cook top lockout did not engage due to the power failure, it will probably not engage when you try that troubleshooting step. Keep in mind that there is a risk that you could lose the use of that cook top if that cook top lock out control board engages the lock out during that manual interruption in power.

Based on your details, it you cannot reset that clock control board by unplugging the range, then that electronic clock control board will probably need to be replaced. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect.com website. The part number is 8523666. Here is a direct link for that part: Clock Control Microcomputer for Kenmore Range 665.75842005 . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and replacing that control board in the console. Here is a brief repair video that shows how to replace that control board: Range Clock Control Replacement .

These tips may help you resolve this failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
