That link for a previous answer provided in the above response pertains to an electric range. Here are some tips that may you with your Kenmore gas range:

This gas range has a direct spark ignition system that is complicated to diagnose. You could have several different problems that would prevent the oven burners from sparking. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes the technical diagnose and troubleshooting for the direct spark ignition system on your range: Where can I find specific procedures for checking the control board functions on my Whirlpool gas range model TGS325MQ4?

If you are able to use the information in that link to find the cause your problem, then you may be able to fix this oven burner ignition failure yourself.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

Why is my oven not lighting?

A:

You should never smell gas even if your oven is not working. The glow bar type igniter opens the gas valve with current draw. If the igniter is new & is glowing when turned on & the oven will not light, I would suspect that the gas valve is failing. On something like this I would recommend calling for service.
