The image below shows the basic instructions for replacing the orifice on a burner for this type of range. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before beginning this procedure. Once you remove that burner head and replace one of the screws to hold that orifice spud holder in place, you should be able to remove that orifice from the burner as shown below. Be sure that you properly tighten the new orifice and check for leaks.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Why won't my Kenmore oven stay at the set temperature?

A:

This type of range has a Direct Spark Ignition system that controls the oven burner. A number of different problems could prevent the burner from staying on or igniting properly. The most frequent cause of a failure to maintain temperature in the bake mode is a bad oven burner and igniter. Replacing these components may fix your problem. A technician is normally needed to replace these components to make sure that they are installed and aligned properly. I recommend that you have a Sears Technician diagnose and repair this type of failure in your range. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
