Q:

oven light 66572012102 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your ovenand do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 66572012102. One thing you may want to try is pushing the switch manualing and see if it works properly when pushed and released. The switch is located on the upper right hand corner of oven .  The door may not be pressing hard against the switch or the switch may be bad. A few reason why the light may be on at random times.

  • A new, stiff, door gasket.
  • Weak door springs.
  • Defective or damaged door hinges.
  • Defective light switch or door switch.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and good luck!

A:

The first image below shows the basic procedure for lifting the cook top on this type of range. This is the same procedure shown in the link that Barbara H. provided in the above response. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before beginning this process.

You may not find the rodent in this area under the cook top. It may be in the area between the top of the oven cavity and the bottom of the burner box. The second image shows how to access that area.

Removing the rodent may not completely fix the odor problem. You may need to have a service technician replace the insulation on top of the oven cavity. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

Why did the oven in my Kenmore range stop heating in the bake mode?

A:

If the spark electrode is ticking to ignite the bake burner, then the digital electronic oven control board should be okay. If you want to fix the display digits that are illuminating properly on this control, you can replace it but that will not likely fix your bake burner problem. The part number for the electronic oven control board is 8190201R. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

This range uses a direct spark ignition system that is not easy to diagnose. The technical information for this system is shown in the images below. The theory of operation is provided in the first image. The second image shows how a technician will test the system. Much of the testing involves taking live voltage checks on the Direct Spark Ignition Control and the electronic control board. These voltage checks are dangerous. Contacting a live wire during this testing could result in lethal electrical shock. I recommend that you call a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven burner failure. The system would have to be properly tested to determine the failed component.
