Q:

Why did my Kenmore microwave suddenly stop heating food?

A:

Make sure that the door is completely closed. Check your settings. Make sure that you are not using the kitchen timer setting.

Beyond this troubleshooting, if the microwave is not heating then you likely have an internal component failure. This type of failure will need to be diagnosed and repaired by a service technician. Microwave failures are not safe to repair yourself. Internal capacitors in the microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed following any internal component repair. For these reasons, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the microwave.
