Question and Answers

Q:

66563793300 Kenmore Elite Microwave, element /light is not working or lighting up???

A:

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. If you think it may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

A:

The unit does have three elements but one is a "Softstart Quarts which is so dim when working it is commonly thought not to be working.

There is a Halogen heater for grilling and a regular Quartz heater for browning.

Each of the three is controlled by a relay on the main control board.

I'm not sure of the particular problem you're having but microwaves do not make good do it yourself projects.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as grill elements, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

Q:

Why is my Kenmore model 66563793300 microwave intermittently beeping?

A:

You don't mention any error codes and you say the microwave works fine except for an intermittent beeping. The most likely cause of this problem is a keypad on the control.

You can try the stop/clear keypad to silence the beeping.

You can put the controls into child lock and see if the intermittent beeping stops. The instructions to turn the child lock feature on are in the image below. The child lock disables most keypads.

Most likely the control panel assembly will have to be replaced.

Microwaves are not good do-it-yourself projects and I'd recommend a technician check and repair this problem.

Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any repair.

I recommend calling a service technician to repair this type of problem.

Q:

How do I change the door handle on my Kenmore elite microwave model 66563793300?

A:

To replace the door handle on your Kenmore model 665.63793300 microwave involves taking the door apart.

I recommend a technician do this repair.

Doors come apart easier than they go together and after the repair a microwave leakage test must be preformed.

Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any repair. The test must be run if the door is taken apart to be serviced.

I recommend calling a service technician to repair this type of problem.
