Q:

Microwave/hood combo

A:

I can appreciate your need for information on this error code.  The F6 indicates a failed relay on the control board. If the control board was recently replaced, the F6 can be caused by incorrect wiring of the control board. I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail.
Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar.Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction.  If you feel you would need further assistance,  or if you feel like you would be more comfortable
having an expert resolve your issue, I would strongly recommend Sears Home Service.com. When you do,

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com and allowing us to help you.

The F6 error code indicates a relay failure on the control board. This repair should be performed by a repair professional. Any time the cabinet is disassembled to make a repair, a leakage survey must be performed according to federal guidelines. Most people do not know that micro-waves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the micro-wave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause micro-wave leakage and a micro-wave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any micro-wave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Click here to schedule service online at the Sears Home Services website. A 10% discount coupon is available when service is set on line.
It may be cost effective to just replace the unit, click here to view the micro-wave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

Thanks again for choosing ManageMyLife.com

That F6 error code indicates that you have a relay failure on the electronic control board in the microwave. That type of internal component failure should be diagnosed and repaired by a service technician. As noted above, microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing a control board, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

I recommend that you have a service technician install the handle on this type of microwave door. The door will need to be disassembled to access the screws that secure the handle. That door contains essential shielding components. A microwave radiation shielding leakage test must be performed on the unit using proper testing equipment following this type of repair. That is why I recommend that you have a service technician complete this repair.
