Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to repair you microwave your self.

If you are trying to replace the outer door shell and the handle you will need to remove the complete door from the microwave. This may involve uninstalling the microwave.

Because you are replacing door parts on the microwave I have to inform you that Microwaves are inherently dangerous to service. They contain high voltage internal component that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. A microwave shielding leakage test must be performed on the door unit using proper testing equipment following any internal component access or door repair before the microwave can safely be returned to service. These are the reasons why I recommend that you have a service technician repair this microwave failure.

This door is put together like a sandwich and you will have to get to the internal screws in order to replace the door parts.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Where can I find parts for my Kenmore microwave?

A:

In order to find parts for your microwave, you will need to determine the model number. You can usually find the model number on most Kenmore microwaves by looking for a sticker around the opening of the door. The Kenmore model number will have a format such as 721.62002200 or 665.60601000. The manufacturing date would be embedded in the serial number of the microwave. If your model number begins with "721.", then you can refer to the first image below to determine the manufacturing date based on your serial number. If the model number begins with "665.", refer to the second image.

There were some models of Kenmore microwaves produced in 1994 that did have glass turntables. I wouldn't be able to determine the age of your microwave without the model and serial number.

Once you determine the model number, you can go to the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com for parts lists and exploded diagrams of your microwave.
