Question and Answers

Q:

dishwasher doesn't drain completely at end of cycle. It first it would drain when cancel/drain button pushed, but has now stopped working. No other problems

A:

What may have been one problem, the water not draining out at the end of the cycle, may have become two problems.

You also say the cancel/drain button has stopped working.

I'm unclear if the dishwasher will drain the water out in the middle of the cycle.

There is separate drain pump but if it fails the water would drain at all and not just at the end of the cycle.

If all the other cycle buttons work and cancel/drain is the only one that doesn't they you most likely have a stuck or shorted keypad on the console.

If the drain pump works in one cycle it should be okay and the problem will most likely be with the control.

Excessive suds might be another cause of not draining at the end of the cycle.

I'd suggest confirming the drain pump is working. If the dishwasher doesn't drain then the most likely cause is a bad drain pump. See the image below for more on replacing the pump.

If the pump is okay but the cancel/drain button is not working then most likely the console is the problem.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with a little more detail for further assistance.

Q:

Kenmore Model 665.15895791 Dishwasher stopped working in the middle of a wash cycle.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, the dishwasher could have a couple issues. It should never change to the "Pots and Pans" cycle once the "Normal Wash" was selected and started. This could indicate a faulty switch and display assembly which is no longer available. It could also have faulty door switch preventing the dishwasher from re-starting. The blinking "Pots and Pans" could indicate the control does not see the door shut.

Based on the age and since the display and switch assembly is no longer available I recommend considering replacing the dishwasher rather than spending any money on having it diagnosed.  If it has faulty door switch or control board, it can be repaired. If it needs a new push button switch and display assembly, it cannot be repaired because the part is no longer available.

I would consider replacing the dishwasher. I added a link to Sears.com where can shop and compare dishwashers.

If you decide to have a service technician come out and diagnose the failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

A:

Mario: Based on your symptom, the wash motor is either jammed or faulty or possibly a wire could have vibrated loose from the motor capacitor. There are two wires connected to the motor from the control board. A red wire with a black stripe and a blue wire. The two motor capacitor wires are Yellow. You may not be able to see the yellow wires with the dishwasher installed. I would first check to see if the motor or chopper blade assembly is jammed from inside the tub. You will need to take the top of the pump housing off. See image below.

Q:

buzzing noise from dishwasher?

A:

Dishwasher noises do get our attention. It is often something stuck or broken, but when it continues it can cause worry. I located a previous expert post that may offer some idea of a cause. I attached the link below. If you can add the model of your dishwasher to this thread it will help the expert provide a better answer.

A little more detail would help me help you with this problem but I suspect the noise is from the water valve.

Please reply with additional details about the buzzing and when it occurs for further assistance.

A:

Thank you both! it is a kenmore 665 tall tub dishwasher. the buzzing occurs after the water is in and heated, and a wash cycle begins - ie, the water is being sprayed throughout. it goes away during filling and draining. not sure my terminology is correct, obviously. that first link suggesting something stuck in the sump area looked promising. would the water valve not buzz during filling as well? thanks again a.

The water valve would buzz during the fill. If the noise happens during the cycle then getting inot the sump would be a good idea. Send me a model number and I can help you with this.
