Managed to use the correct control button sequence as suggested to reset the washer. After self diagnosis it went back to normal and I was able to start the washer. I made sure to run the tap and bring up the water temperature first. Seems to be ok now. Thank You

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

Running Diagnostics clears the control and allows it to operate again. If heating problem is not corrected though, the control will stop running again on next cycle. I am including the diagnostics and the clean light error description below.

The remaining checks will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have a meter and are confident in your ability to safely perform these checks, reply to this post and I will be happy to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

Q:

Glasses clouding 66517269400 Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

A:

Good morning... I can fully understand your concern regarding this issue. The use of phosphates have been eliminated from detergent resulting in clouding. I did locate a link that will discuss the topic in more detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you as to what might be wrong with your dishwasher and have a nice day.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having a problem with your Kenmore 665.17269400 dishwasher

The film on the glasses and the dishes not drying are likely separate issues.

The dishes not being dry problem can be as simple as not using rinse agent.  Rinse agent is required.  The dishes not drying can also indicate a heating element problem.  At the end of the cycle the dishes should almost be to hot to pick up.  The element heating the water is what mainly dries the dishes.

The film is usually one of two things.   White film can be soap or it can be minerals in the water.  A simple test to determine which problem you have is to rinse the glass under the faucet and rub the film with your thumbe.  Soap film should clean off.  Mineral film may look like it is gone but when the glass dries the film is still there.  Mineral file can be removed by rinsing the glasses in the dishwasher with cup or two of vinegar.

I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.

Thank you for submitting a question. Yadira has provided you with good information. The clean blinking light is frustrating and I will be happy to assist you. The blinking clean light is usually an indication of an issue in the heating circuit for the unit. I recommend running the dishwasher through a diagnostic test to determine the problem. Also, by running the diagnostic test it will help clear the control and allows it to operate again. However, this is not permanent fit. If the heating problem is not corrected, the control will stop running again on the next cycle. The image below will provide you with the diagnostics and the clean light error information. The remaining checks will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have a meter and are confident in your ability to safely perform these checks, reply back to this post and I will be happy to assist you further. I hope this helps. If you do not feel comfortable performing test or repairing this problem yourself, I recommend scheduling for service. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you but I didn't receive an image. If I do an ohms check on the heating element and replace it will that take care of the problem?

If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can shut off the breaker for the dishwasher and access the control board. The heater circuit on most models can be checked through the red/white to white wires that connect to the control board. If you are able to locate these wires, pull the connectors off of the control board and measure the resistance through this circuit. You should measure between 10 and 35 ohms of resistance through this circuit. If you measure infinite resistance (open) then you either have a bad heating element or a wiring failure. If this circuit is okay, then you could have had a different problem such as a bad thermistor (temperature detector) or a low water level. You could have had a single incident that caused the control not to detect the expected rise in water temperature during the water heating cycle of the dishwasher. This could cause the clean light to blink. If the heater circuit is apparently okay, you can clear this fault code by pressing the following keys within 5 seconds to begin a short diagnostic cycle: HEATED DRY - NORMAL WASH - HEATED DRY - NORMAL WASH. As noted above. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. I hope this helps.
