Q:

The flashing green clean light. 66517054401 Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, value your service.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dishwasher.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Kenmore Dishwasher model number, 66517054401.

Usually when this happens, it is because one or more buttons on the console are shorted.  Try the test below to see if that will determine the problem.

First, turn the power off to the dishwasher.

Access the unit control by removing the screws in the inter door panel.

Remove the P1 ribbon cable that goes to the touch pad.

With that wire off reassemble the door and restore power.

Wait five seconds after restoring power and close the door.

If the drain motor runs the touch pad needs to be replaced.

If it does not do anything the unit control is defective.

Please "RESUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS IF THERE IS ANY OTHER PROBLEMS".

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thank you Larry. Before I start working on my Kenmore dishwasher model # 665.17054401 and run your test I just want to make sure I have your instructions correct. You want me to: remove the 6 screws .... 2 on each side and 2 at the top .... that I can see when I open the door. remove the P1 ribbon cable .... I assume it is marked. with wire off, put the door back together. turn on the power wait 5 seconds & close the door. if the drain motor turns on ... replace the touch pad. if the drain motor does nothing then I need to replace the unit control ..... or control unit. If this is what I am to do please give me the part numbers for the touch pad and the unit control. .
