I know it's irritating to get this white film on the dishes. Unfortunately, without a model number, I can only provide some general information. You have already received some very good information about this type of problem. If you do have hard water, it will probably be the reason for the film. I recommend getting a water sample taken, to determine how hard the water is. The only way to treat hard water is with a water softener. This can also be a simple case of the water not being hot enough. The water temperature needs to be 135 degrees to dissolve the soap properly. For more assistance, a complete model and serial number will be needed and any additional details will be helpful. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

The model number is 665.17034403 I am running the dishwasher with Dishwasher Magic now to see if it cleans the scum off the dishwasher. Then I will tackle the dishes. The frustrating thing about this is that I've had the dishwasher since March of 2006 and only recently began having scummy dishes.

Hopefully changing detergents will solve your problem. If the white film is still there, first try rinsing a glass and then rubbing it, to see if the film comes off. If it does, then it does indicate the film is a soap film. In this case, check the water temperature, it needs to be at least 135 degrees. You can also try using less detergent and make sure you are using a rinsing aid. If the film won't rub off, it will be due to calcium in the water. The water supply is subject to change at any time. In this case, a water softener will be needed.

This has become a very common problem. Your dishwasher is not broken....don't call a repairman or buy a new machine! The white film is probably hard water deposits. This happens because many state governments have banned phosphate as an ingredient in detergent. So detergents don't work as well as before. Here's a solution that's all natural and contains no phosphate. www.CitriClean.net
