Thank you for submitting your question. The "clean light" indicates a problem with the water heater circuit. The first image below contains the instructions to enter and run the diagnostic test. This should clear the error so you can use the dishwasher. If you can't enter the test there may be a problem with the interface/console. If the root cause of the heating circuit failure is not repaired the problem will happen again. Select and run the high temperature wash option with heated dry. During the cycle check a couple of times how things are. You should see steam and the dishes at the end of the cycle should be almost too hot to touch. Most likely the element or thermostat is at fault but it can be a control failure as well. The second image below is the heating circuit. These parts must be check with a ohms/volt meter. A clamp meter is best for checking the heating amperes during the test. The heater should draw between 8-10 amps when on. I hope this information helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance with this repair. If you do not feel comfortable performing test or repairing this problem yourself, I recommend scheduling for service. You can schedule for service online with our Sears Home Services team. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

kenmore dishwasher mod#66517033400 66517033400

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher is not working properly.

Possible causes that could keep the water from properly heating:

¨ Open in Heating Element circuit (heater, thermostat, or wiring)
¨ Neutral side Door Switch not closing (check switch and door latch assembly)
Note: Neutral side door switch only used for heater circuit
¨ Water not coming in or lack of water (check inlet valve circuit and water pressure)
¨ Lack of water circulation (pump motor or restriction in circulation channels)
¨ Siphoning of water during fill (check drain hose for proper installation)

SOLUTION: Troubleshoot the dishwasher for possible cause. Perform repair accordingly. Reset the
electronic control by initiating a diagnostic cycle. Check the product Tech Sheet for the correct
cycle sequence. The service diagnostic cycle is activated by pressing the following keys
respectively:
------Heated Dry------Normal------Heated Dry-------Normal

Usually this type of error code would need the heater, thermal fuse, thermistor, or control board to be tested. The first to go out would be the heating element.

Running that diagnostic test will clear the clean-light-blinking code. The code will return if you have a problem with the heating element.
