Question and Answers

Q:

dishwasher isnt running properly

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Dishwasher, Model: 665.17024400. From reviewing the details on your model, buttons are heated dry, normal wash, heated dry and normal wash. The button must be pushed within 6 seconds. After the buttons are pushed, all the lights should light up and it will go through a self-diagnostics. If there is a problem with the dishwasher, it will display an error code. Otherwise, the control panel will finish the diagnostics and shut off. The dishwasher should be ready to run. If the control panel does not respond, check the bi metal (thermal fuse) with a multimeter.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dishwasher to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Cleaning the filter and sump area will help the dishwasher perform better. Follow the steps shown in the image below to access the chopper blade area of the sump. Thoroughly clean the entire dishwasher and sump. After cleaning the dishwasher, I recommend that you use a cleaner such as Dishwasher Magic to remove any remaining residue and odor from the unit.

The information provided in the link by Alina will assist you with the soap not dispensing. The quality of your water depends on what kind, and how much dish soap to use. If you have hard water in your area, you would want to use the maximum amount of liquid dish soap. If you have a water softener or soft water, you would want to use a small amount of powdered dish soap. The way to clear the soaps would be to empty the dishwasher and put a few tablespoons of vegetable oil in the bottom. Run the cycle without soap and no dishes. Often dish soap (Palmolive) builds up and creates soap suds that won't go away during a normal cycle. The oil binds with the soap residue to get rid of it. Also, Dishwasher Magic is a great product to use which is available at most grocery stores or Sears. Other helpful tips; be sure the rinse aid reservoir is full, and run the hot water at the sink to purge the line of all cold water before starting the dishwasher.
