If the heating circuit failure is not corrected the unit will keep going into the failed mode. If you input the wrong test mode the lights will stay on.

Thanks for the model number. The diagnostic test for this particular dishwasher is in the image below.

Try the test and see if you can determine a fault code or if it clears the error.

You can reply with any additional details or questions.

Kate, If the clean light is blinking then the control thinks there is a water heat problem. The image below contains the instructions to enter and run a diagnostic test cycle. This may clear the problem for a short time.

Hi. I have the same problem. My clean light keeps flashing. I checked the manual and the float control seems ok and the rinse cap is filled and on properly. I was about to run a load of dishes so there aren't any suds in it. Those were the 3 things it said to look for. Is there anything else I can check before calling it in for service. I tried to read the schematics above but they are too small to view.

I just found a different post and it said to reset the error code to push this sequence of buttons....Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal buttons. I did that and it works. Yeah!

Q:

How do I make my Kenmore Ultra Wash Quietguard3 run normally again?

A:

It can be difficult to diagnose dishwashers. I would recommend adding the complete model number to help the expert provide the best information possible. The first link below is a similar question that may provide some answers. The second link is for Sears Home Services if a technician needs to be scheduled.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The clean light will flash and suspend operation when the control board does not detect a 2 degree temperature rise if the inlet water temperature is greater than 90 degrees or a 4 degree increase the incoming water temperature is less than 90 degrees.

If the heating element is working, you can reset the control and it will likely operate normally unless it does not detect a water temperature rise in the second wash cycle.

To reset the control board; press  ------Heated Dry------Normal------Heated Dry-------Normal in this order and then let the dishwasher operate for a few minutes and then you can press Cancel/Drain and let it time out. One it times out and shuts off, it should operate normally unless the control fails to detect a temperature rise.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

Why does my Kenmore dishwasher fill up with water and then just hum instead of spraying?

A:

The humming sound is probably coming from the wash pump motor. Since the dishwasher is not spraying, this indicates that you either have a motor failure or a component failure in the sump assembly that is preventing the pump from providing water through the spray arms. Press the CANCEL/DRAIN button and make sure the the drain pump drains the water.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this type of problem. The technician will be able to determine the cause of the problem and repair it properly.

If the serial number of your dishwasher begins with FR32 . . ., or is between FR36 . . . and FR45 . . ., then the motor and heater element should have been replaced. There was a motor safety recall on model 66517012400 within this serial number range. If you look in the bottom of the tub at the heater element and it is angled instead of round, then it is likely that this recall repair has not been completed. Call Sears Service at 1-800-4MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663) if you have questions about this recall. If your serial number is not in the range noted above, then you are not affected by this recall.
