Thanks for your reply! The diagrams in the link you provided are identical to what I've already been looking at, and I need something more detailed or specific about the placement of the check balls. Or do you simply drop them under the drain cover & hope for the best? I tried that already and it didn't help...

I provided some additional images below that may help you replace the drain check balls. The first 2 photographs show a pump assembly with a segment cut out so that you can physically see the check balls. The third image is one that you have already been provided. Keep in mind that the third image is the underside of the separator. The 4th image shows another photograph of the pump assembly with the section cut out of it.

I hope that this additional information helps.

If you have the check balls properly in place but the dishwasher still won't drain properly, I recommend that you examine the drain check valve as described in this link of a previous answer: How to check a clog in dishwasher drain pump

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Thanks for this! We're definitely on the right page. I think I can understand where the check balls are supposed to go and what they are supposed to do. But I'm still not certain how to get them & keep them in the right place. Last time I just dropped them in, and that certainly didn't work. Am I missing a part that keeps them in place? Or what can I do to ensure they stay where they belong? I've attached 2 pictures, the first picture shows a top view without the checkballs, and the second one shows it with them in. Like I said I tried that and it didn't work. Any more suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for those pictures. I provided some additional photos in the image below. One check ball needs to go below the cover so that it is under the tab shown in the photos. I provided a 4th image that shows how to remove that cover to that you can properly position that check ball. The other check ball will go in the position that you have your 2 check balls in on the photograph above.
