A:

I understand how inconvenient it is to have the door handle on your dishwasher coming loose. While you are waiting for an expert answer, below is a link in where you can enter your model number and the owners manual will pop up. I also managed to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem, please keep in mind that the link describes a different model dishwasher. I hope my links are useful.

A:

The latch was made up of a handle attached to the latch with a pin. The image below may help you see this.

The handle (lever) and pivot pin are available if needed.

From the description you give and the pictures, thanks they do help, you sent a part of the latch has broken away.

The picture you sent shows the lever and pivot pin installed. The white, lighter colored piece is part of the latch.

The bad news is that the latch is not available. The lever and pin are available but you don't need them.

I'm afraid the latch will not be repairable.

I'm sorry for the bad news.

Q:

What would cause my dishwasher to immediately start pumping water out when it begins to fill?

A:

Since the dishwasher motor has to run one direction for wash and it has to reverse the other direction to pump the water out you're details are indicating a failure in the electronic control board. The control board is constantly running the motor in the drain direction. The power failure likely created a power surge which caused the control board to fail.

The control board for your model dishwasher is no longer available. The dishwasher will need to be replaced.

Q:

Why is the drain pump running all of the time on my Kenmore dishwasher?

A:

The motor on this model of dishwasher reverses to drain out. There is not a separate drain motor. If water is draining out while the motor is running in the wash direction I recommend checking the drain line. If the drain line is too low this will create a siphon condition.
