Q:

Washer Not Progressing Through Cycle 66516889000 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the dishwasher not going through the cycle.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Kenmore Dishwasher model number 66516889000.

All I have read and experience states it most likely is a heating problem with the light on and not cleaning well.  The heating element fails and does not heat the water adequately clean nor dry the dishes.

Replace the heating element if it is open and not operating, or perform a continuity test on the heating element and replace if rading is not between 10-35 ohms.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dishwasher. Based on your symptom and details the control panel will likely need to be replaced however, it could have loose connection in the ribbon connector on the control board from the control panel. Generally speaking, if one of the keys is stuck in the depressed position, the dishwasher will flash the light for that key. If a key without a light is stuck in the depressed position or multiple keys are stuck, the key will flash the "Lock Out" light.

I recommend disconnecting the power supply from the dishwasher and drop the console/control panel and check the wiring connections. Remove the 6 screws from behind the control panel and you should be able to drop the control down and check all the connections. Disconnect and ribbon connector from the control board and check for dirty connections. Re-connect the ribbon connector and re-install the control panel and re-apply power.

If it continues to not program and start, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
