Q:

DW Model 6651677993 Pump buzzes and thermal trip opens. 6651677993 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Dishwasher, Model: 665.1677993. From reviewing the details on your model, Based on your symptom there could be a piece of glass or some other type of hard object stuck in the chopper blade area or it may have broken chopper blade shaft if it makes the grinding noise when washing. If it makes the noise only when draining then it may something in the drain pump. I recommend checking for any glass or object stuck in the chopper blade area. It could also be the copper water supply line touching the dishwasher frame or motor too causing a buzzing noise. You should remove the lower toe panel and check the copper water supply line.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dishwasher to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

The current arm does not have that cap around the center. The black rubber 'seal' sits on top of the arm. Nothing you have indicated matches what I have. Dan

I have checked the model several times, so I'm pretty sure I have the right one. My spray arm looks more like the one in this diagram than the part pictured on the replacement part link you provided. This picture doesn't have a collar attached under the arms. Please compare the two to see if you understand what I am trying to say. Is the bearing a solid ring? Dan
