Hi Rob,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I need a few more details about what is happening. Does the dishwasher complete cycles? Does it stall in certain parts of the cycle?

Sensing (on some models only): Your dishwasher senses the soil level on the dishes. Soil level determines the length of some cycles, the amount of heat added to the wash or rinse, and the cycle needed for the load. SENSING glows during the soil sensing parts of the cycle. Wash action continues while sensing occurs.

How the smartwash Sensing System works

  1. When the smartwash TM cycle is started, the smartwash TM Sensors detect the size of the dish load, the soil level, and the water temperature in the dishwasher.
  2. After the dish load size and soil level are determined, the sensors automatically adjust the temperature and the amount of water used for the load. This allows less water usage when there is a smaller, less heavily-soiled dish load.

We have a Kenmore 66516552200 dishwasher and we've just about done everything to fix it shy of throwing it out of the window. We received a gently used machine from my parents and it was working fine at their house and installed it into our home the machine powers up and acts like its gonna work properly but it gets stuck on the sensing mode....if we press cancel it will cancel with no problems but it will not come out of the sensing mode...we ran it loaded and unloaded...do you have any suggestions?
