I understand how important it is to have your diswasher working properly. The problem that you are having will be either with the control panel or the dispenser. However, without a model number I can not provide the testing information that you will need. If you could please reply with this, I will be able to give a more detailed answer. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Sorry for the lack of info - I thought we were going to have a direct conversation. Our 7 year old Kenmore dishwasher model #665.1635.2301 is making a noise from the soap dispenser. My husband does think that the problem stems from the control panel, but if you are able to give us a test to be sure, that would save us purchasing the wrong part. Can you give me the part number for the control panel on this dishwasher model? Thank you.

Q:

Dishwasher problem.

A:

Having a dishwasher is an accentual to the home now a days. We have became so dependent on the appliance so when it breaks down we are lost for words. I have found a few links that might help you understand the reason why the dishwasher is no longer working as desired. The first link is the Owner's Manual, which in the back of the booklet has troubleshooting ideas. The second link is an expert provides additional information on what else to do.

I know it's frustrating when the dishwasher stops working. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this problem. This sounds like it could be a problem with the motor itself. There is a known problem with some of these motors. To determine if this motor falls in that category the complete serial number of the dishwasher will be needed. If you can reply back with this information, I will be able to determine if this motor falls in the listed range. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If the motor was replaced on the recall, then it has the updated motor already. In this case, it sounds like the motor windings are weak and shutting the motor off on the internal overload. This would indicate the motor will probably need to be replaced but I recommend having a technician make this check. If the motor has failed, this motor would probably not be covered. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

It can definitely be frustrating when something as handy as a dishwasher that has worked for so long and starts to give problems. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful.

You could have an obstruction in the chopper blade assembly, a bad motor or a problem with the electronic control board that is causing this failure.

Start the dishwasher in a QUICK RINSE cycle and see if the motor runs properly. See if the cycle completes properly if the motor runs correctly in that cycle. If the motor runs for 1 minute and stops in that cycle, then I recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave the breaker off for 5 minutes. Reset the breaker to restore electrical power to the dishwasher. This will completely reset (reboot) the control board in the console. See if the dishwasher works normally after resetting the control board.

If the dishwasher motor still runs for only one minute, I recommend that you shut off the breaker and check the chopper blade area of the sump for debris or an obstruction. The image below shows how to access that area in your dishwasher. Your model may look slightly different than the one shown below but the basic procedure is the same.

If you find no problems in the sump area, then I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair the dishwasher. It is possible that you will need to have the motor replaced to fix this problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.
