Question and Answers

Q:

lights flashing will not run 66516053402 Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your dishwasher and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 66516053402 and the rapidly blinking light on this type of dishwasher indicates a stuck button. The normal wash button is stuck and the dishwasher will not start because this disables the control. To fix this type of problem, you may need to replace the control console. Here is a link for a video that may help with additional troubleshooting. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Q:

Lights up and will Set Programs 66516053402 Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the dishwasher will not start and the Start button is flashing. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

The likely reason why your dishwasher is not starting and flashing the Start button is because the line one (L1) door switch is not closing when the door is shut. The L1 door switch has two (2) black wires attached to it and when the door is shut the door switch must close and send voltage to P2-3 terminal on the control board or it will not start.

It is likely one of the switches have malfunctioned and is in need of replacement. Unless you have extensive experience making these types of repairs, we would recommend having a service technician assist with the diagnosis and repair.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the control board is getting the proper voltage supply when measuring across the White wire at P7 and the Tan wire at P8 and proper voltage supply across the White wire at P7 and the Black wire with the white stripe on P2-6, then it could have a faulty control board or a shorted control panel/key pad. The control board is offered in several colors so I added a link to Searpartsdirect so you can choose and order the control panel if needed.

Measuring and confirming the voltage supply to the control board is the only test. The control panel can be tested and if it passes, then we must assume the control board has failed. NOTE: Be sure and disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before servicing.

The key pad/control panel ribbon connector can be disconnected from the control board and then the key pad key functions can be tested with an Ohm meter. I added an image below showing which pins to check for continuity for each button/key switch. I added an image below showing how to test the control panel and an image showing the power up circuit.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
