Question and Answers

Q:

Heater Circuit 66516039402 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher is not working properly. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist you.

I have found that the heater circuit malfunction consists o the heating element, thermostat, thermistor, and thermal fuse. These parts will need to be tested to make sure they are working. I recommend checking the resistance of the heating element first and the the other two parts.

It might be cost effective to purchase the parts rather than a new one. You can save money by doing the repair yourself.  A new unit will cost more than the repair itself.

8193762- fuse kit
 W10518394- heater
8269208- thermister
661566- thermostat

The heating element can be tested by disconnecting the electrical wire connections from the heating element and testing the resistance of the heater using an ohm meter. NOTE: Disconnect or remove power to the dishwasher before servicing the dishwasher. The heating element should have a resistance of 10-35 ohms.

Let me know if you need more instructions to test the other parts after you test the heater.

Q:

dishwasher water too hot 665.16039402 Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dishwasher. If the heating element heats up, it is likely OK. In order for the timer to advance after the heating delay light comes on will depend on the incoming water temperature and how quick it heats the water while washing. Once the water is heated up to 135 degrees it should cause the thermostat to close and complete the circuit to the timer motor and begin advancing. Since this is not happening, then it is most likely a problem with the thermostat. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on this link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. The self-check diagnostics indicated a thermistor failure. Close inspection revealed one of the wires had pulled off the thermistor, probably during installation. Reconnecting the wire fixed the problem.
