Question and Answers

Q:

Dishwasher 665.16033403 doesn't fill 66516033403 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your dishwasher and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 66516033403 and I know that it can be very difficult to have problems with your dishwasher. If the dishwasher door is not fully closed and latched, the dishwasher will not start and will not fill. Open the door and make sure there are not any dishes, pots, handles or utensils that are stopping the door from fully closing.

After making sure the door closes properly and nothing is under the float valve, close the door and press the Start button, to restart the cycle. If the dishwasher still will not fill make sure there is power to the dishwasher.

If this is a new installation, make sure that the water valve is turned to the "ON" position; otherwise no water will enter the dishwasher. The failure could also be the water valve or the pressure switch. This type of failure will require testing voltage and resistance of the valve and the continuity and operation of the pressure switch. I would suggest that you have a technician diagnose and repair this.

Joey, I have a Kenmore Elite Ultra model 655.13862K601 and was hoping to get a PDF of the tech data sheet (#8572216) which I am hoping will have an electrical schematic for my machine. I clicked on your response above, but, the files are not readable. Any chance you have a readable version or a link to the same? Thanks so much for your help. Take care and have a happy and safe New Year. :) Don

Don: At this time any image I provide will come out too small. I will attempt to enlarge it when I copy the wire diagram and hope it will be readable. If you have not looked, the dishwasher normally comes with tech sheet. It could be located under the front of the tub or possibly inside the control panel if someone has not taken it out and forgot to put it back.

Q:

I need help with my dishwasher please

A:

It can become quite frustrating when a dishwasher is not cleaning the dishes properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

ty. UPDATE: I cleaned out the bottom and found some junk-straw,toothpicks,glass,etc. Started it and the cups were FILLED with water this time BUT..I'm not hearing water splashing on the door. At first I heard some water, but it almost sounded like it was coming from the side/back/under the dishwasher, rather than from inside.(but I didn't see any wetness on the floor or side of cabinet). I set the arms to point out at the door and they are not moving although they are not stuck. It's very hot in there but at this point there is no water in the bottom. It was at WASHING/SENSING, then went to WASHING, now its at WASHING/SENSING again.(I have it on POTS and PANS) I can hear a humming sound but there's no water in there still. I've never paid attention to how the cycles go, but I don't think it should go back to washing/sensing once it's on washing.. Just checked again and STILL no water. It started with water in the bottom just a little lower than the heating element, but it's gone now. In case you're wondering...I had to have an online CHAT man post my original question because it wasn't showing up for me (ERIC R.?) Please HELP!!! thanks! Connie 8-)

I can understand how having goo left in the dishwasher and on the dishes would be upsetting.

I see you did set up a good test to see if the dishwasher is filling correctly. I would suggest checking the circulation again by running the rinse only cycle. Place cups in each corner of the upper and lower rack. Let the dishwasher fill and wash for 2-3 minutes then pause it and check the water level in each cup. Each cup should have a like amount of water.

If the cups all have water in them then empty the cups into the tub and restart the dishwasher. After 4-5 more minutes check the water level again.

I would also recommend the high temp wash cycle. It may boost performance for cleaning and dissolving the detergent.

If the same situation exists, remove lower spray arm assembly and inspect accumulator cover screen. Vinegar is useful in cleaning the dishwasher tub and the spray arm. To clean dishwasher, recommend running with 1 cup of white vinegar sitting upright in upper rack.

Please remember to unplug the dishwasher before attempting any service or repairs.

Another possible problem may be in the sump. Check sump pump for obstructions or debris. The sump pump check valve should open and close freely. Access chopper to check for debris and clean screen as needed. After accessing chopper, rotate to make sure impeller turns . It should require only minimum force. If rotation is difficult or not possible, replace pump and motor assembly. The images below may help to access and check. Click this video to help; Video .

Finally, this could be caused by drain loop check valve not sealing. Disconnect drain hose at plumbing connection. Elevate hose above dishwasher and fill with water. If water flows into the dishwasher, replace entire drain loop(install as high as possible and attach to underside of countertop if possible. See 3rd image below.

These are a lot of checks to make, but it sounds like you do not have access to a repair technician.

I hope the video or these suggestion help. Please feel free to respond to this thread if further help is needed.

Thanks for the update. Since the cups filled once, the water flow is probably fine. Just in case, is the overflow protection float able to move up and down freely? Press down to release. Try pressing the resume cycle first and give it time to complete. Each time the cycles are interupted, the time may increase. Try running a quick rinse cycle to see if the dishwasher will complete this cycle properly. This short cycle does not use the sensors. If the dishwasher gets stuck in the sensing or washing portion of one or more cycles, then you could have a bad control board or failed component such as a sensor. Please respond back and let us know if these suggestions helped.
