Question and Answers

Q:

kenmore dishwasher 16032402 suddenly loud 66516032402 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your question.  A loud noise during the wash is likely caused by the circulation motor.  My first suggestion would be to add some water to the wash cycle and see if the noise is reduced with the added water.  You can also cancel the cycle and start a drain.  Does the noise continue when the unit is drainning out?  If adding water helps reduce the noise then check the drain hose is not siphonning water out during the cycle.  If the drain hose is not high enough then water may siphon out during the cycle.  I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.  Thank you for using Manage MY Life.

I added 1/2 gal of water to the washer and started the machine in a normal way. The noise did not change. The water level did not go down. I also canceled and drained the cycle. This function was a quite sound, all the water drained. Does this shed light on the cause of the load noise? Thanks ~G

A:

If the noise is in the wash cycle then the circulation motor is likely the cause of the noise. There is a seal that may have gone bad and is the cause of the noise. The water valve can make a loud noise when going bad but if the noise is during the cycle then replacing the motor assembly would be your best bet.

I'm hand washing, now there is the smell of something burning, like rubber. Is there a video on replacing the motor assembly? Can you send a link to the correct motor assembly? Thanks, Guy

Q:

Kenmore Dishwasher 66516032402 has a new water solenoid valve and still does not have enough pressure to spin the top wash arm.

A:

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. The water pressure developed by the pump and motor assembly (W10239405) shooting through the holes in the spray arm is what propels the spray arms around. If the dishwasher is not getting the proper amount of water or if the pump and motor are not running, the spray arms will not rotate. Check and make sure the spray arms and feed tube aren't restricted. Also make sure the spray arms spin easily and are not binding or hitting against something. If the pump and motor are running; open the door and add about a quart of water to the bottom of the tub and then see if the spray arms will rotate. If it does, then the unit is not getting enough water. You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance.
