Your dishwasher does have filters and screens that collect food particles and the stud will most likely be trapped here. These filters will not allow the stud to pass any further to cause damage. The image below will show you how to remove the spray arm and get into the sump of the dishwasher. I hope this helps.

Original inquirer here. Thank you for the answer and the manual page, very helpful. I followed the steps through "removing the soil accumulator from the sump base". My dishwasher does not seems to have a "foreign object protector". I did remove the one torx screw from the inlet protector, but there doesn't seem to be any way to remove the inlet protector itself, so I stopped, and put everything back. Other than the failed attempt to remove the inlect protector, the trickest part of the process was at the beginning, the removal of the top rack railing end caps. Don't use a screwdriver or anything else to pry them off - just push on the tab at the center of the cap, push it towards the center and back of the dishwasher, and the cap would pop off easily.

Q:

Why is the normal wash light flashing on my Kenmore model 665.16024400 dishwasher?

A:

A non responsive keypad indicates a failure of the touch pad.

If you have been pushing the heated dry and normal wash keypad trying to enter diagnostic it is possible the keypad is locked out.

See the first image below for instruction on how to get into child lock and how to get out of child lock.

If the unit is not in child lock then the normal keypad may be stuck. The console and keypad overlay come together as one part. Remove power to the dishwasher before accessing the control. The 2nd image below shows you how to remove and access the console.

The console can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect . With the instructions below you will be able to change it yourself if you feel comfortable doing so.
