Question and Answers

Q:

What would cause the "Heated Dry" LED to flash and not start on my dishwasher?

A:

Generally speaking when it will not start and the LED above the key is flashing rapidly indicates a stuck or shorted key pad.

I added the directions on how to check the key pad in the image below. NOTE: Disconnect power to the dishwasher before testing the keypad. The heated dry keypad leads are P1-13 and P1-5. You will need to test across these two leads at the end of the P1 connector using an ohm meter. There will be some sort of a mark on one side of the P1 connector indicating which one is #1. It could be a very small #1 or a just a dot.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

I can understand how difficult it can be when the dishwasher is not draining completely. The filter for this model is located under the outlet on the pump. The image below will show the parts for this unit. You will need to remove the lower wash arms first. Then remove the outlet (key #14) by removing all of the screws. Then remove the impeller (key #11) by removing the screw. The filter (key #9) is under this. I would suggest that you clean it out first, before your replace it. If you need to order part, just click on this link to do so: Sears Parts Direct . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

From the description you give I suspect you have a stuck or shorted keypad.

The Heated Dry keypad also is used to put the unit into control lock.

To fix this problem will most likely require replacing the console.

You might try access the ribbon connector and disconnect it for a minute and then reattach it and see if there has been any improvement. Remember to turn the power to the dishwasher off first.

The console can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .
