Hi Sarah,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The first thing I recommend looking at is the drain check valve. I am including images below that show you where this is located. The first image shows the drain hose connected to the check valve. I recommend that you shut off the breaker to the dishwasher and remove the bottom front access panel to access this end of the drain hose. Use a shallow pan to catch any residual water that will drain out of the dishwasher when you remove this hose. Remove the other end of the hose from the garbage disposal. Blow air through the drain hose to verify that it is clear. If you have an air gap installed, you will need to check the line between the check valve and the air gap and then the line between the air gap and the garbage disposal. The second image shows the check valve with the drain hose removed. Unscrew the check valve and remove it to check the flapper valve as shown in the third image.

If you do not find any issues with the check valve the third image will demonstrate disassembly of the sump.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Where do I connect the ground wires on my dishwasher?

A:

Your power supply line to the dishwasher if using Romex wiring will have a Black, White and a bare copper ground wire. You will connect the Black wire from the power supply to Black, the White wire from the power supply will connect to the White wire and the Bare Copper ground wire will be fastened under the ground screw (key#19) inside the dishwasher terminal box. It's not going to have a separate loose green ground wire. Connect the Ground wire from the power supply to the dishwasher under the ground screw and tighten it.

See images below for instructions and to see the location of the ground screw.
