Question and Answers

Q:

Not able to unlock my dishwasher by pressing button for 4 seconds or unplugging dishwasher and plugging by in, 66515984990 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Looking at the information I’m showing that it could be something with the control board. It sounds like the 4 second button push didn’t work. Another thing it could be is the electronic thermal fuse inside the control board. I would check that and see if it’s bad.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Why is the water inlet on my Kenmore Elite dishwasher leaking when it fills?

A:

Sometimes the water inlet will begin spitting water out while filling for no apparent reason. There also could be something inside the inlet causing water to splash out while filling. If a large cookie sheet or large plate is placed on that side of the tub can cause a restriction of the entering water and cause the inlet to back up and leak over the top too. The water inlet is not just an inlet for the water, it also lets air vent out when the wash motor starts. When the tub is full of Hot water and the pump starts, thermal expansion takes place and air has to vent out of the air inlet or water could blow out of both front corners of the tub. I recommend un-installing the dishwasher and check for any type of restrictions in the inlet. Sometimes a change in the fill pressure or volume can cause the inlet to leak. It could even have a crack in the housing too. It may solve the problem by replacing the water inlet valve, water inlet or by shutting the water supply valve a little to reduce the water flow.

You can view the installation instructions at Manage My Home. I added a link to Manage My Home with the installation instructions looked up for you. Click on "Installation Guide" to open link and then click on View installation guide.

A:

Expert answer was right on, tank was full and that caused the water to splash out when the motor started. I also found the water inlet was turned and the leveling legs were uneven, so when I uninstalled and releveled everything seems to be working great. Thanks for your help.

Q:

Why is the Favorite Cycle light flashing on my Kenmore dishwasher?

A:

Your symptoms indicate a stuck FAVORITE CYCLE button on the control console. When you attempt to select a different cycle (like QUICK WASH), the LOCK ON light flashes because the control detects 2 buttons stuck at the same time. Replacing the control console will normally fix this problem. There is a very slight chance that the electronic control board is causing this problem. The normal repair involves replacing the control console. If the problem continues after replacing the control console, then the electronic control board would need to be replaced.

If you intend to fix this problem yourself, you can order the control console from the Sears PartsDirect website www.searspartsdirect.com . According to your model number, it appears that you need the Bisque color console. The part number for this color is 9744450.

If you attempt to install the new console, be sure to turn off the breaker for the dishwasher to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to complete the repair, I recommend calling a service technician to install the new console.
