Kenmore Dishwasher #66515982990 Lower leaking black plastic trim 66515982990

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you.  I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Looking at some information I’m showing this leak could be due to water temperature. If the water temp going into the dishwasher exceeds 150 degrees is when the leaking occurs. Take a cup and fill it with hot water from your tap, place a thermometer in it if it’s hotter than 150 degrees try turning the water down. If it still leaks after the water temp has been turned down i suggest ordering a wax motor resistor kit, Part number 675833. The kit will include detailed instructions on proper installation

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. If you have any further questions or concerns, you will have to post a new question. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the dishwasher is overfilling to the point that it's leaking over the front lip of the tub, then it could have faulty water inlet valve. The float assembly should break the voltage supply to the water inlet valve if the float rises up enough to cause the micro switch to open.

To check the float operation, make sure the float moves up and down freely. To test the float switch, it can be disconnected and tested with an Ohm meter or if you are very careful, while the dishwasher is filling with water, start pushing up on the float stem from underneath the tub and it should break the circuit and shut off the water inlet valve. If it breaks the circuit and there is no voltage across the water inlet valve solenoid and water continues to come slowly, then you will need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Now, is the dishwasher draining completely after each drain cycle? If it's not draining all the water, it can and will eventually fill up high enough to cause water to splash over the front lip of the tub. If the dishwashing detergent is foaming or sudsing, it will also cause it to leak.

NOTE: Be very careful and do not touch any wire leads if you try pushing up on the float stem from underneath the tub to see if the water inlet valve is shutting off properly.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with mold inside the dishwasher. We are here to help. The heating element is not turning on inside this dishwasher. The 2 burned wire are going to the thermastat for the heating element. If the wires are long enough, you may be able to cut off the burned part of the wire and install new terminals. Then hook up the wires to the thermastat. If the thermastat is damaged replace it. Otherwise, that wire needs to be replaced. Therefore, the dry cycle was not working properly. Also, not installing the drain hose properly will prevent the dishwasher from retaining the water. The water is running down the drain, so the dishes are not getting sprayed properly. That may have caused the mold. I recommend you correct the drain hose installation. Also, the use of a rinse agent prevent the spotting of dishes and helps the dishes dry properly. The water temperature inside the dishwasher should be 120-130 degrees. You may have to change the setting on the hot water heater. Once all this is corrected, Dishwasher Magic should clean up the dishwasher mold. I hope this helps.
