Debris does build up and can cause drain problems as well as dirty dishes. This is a good home project with some instructions.

Remember to disconnect power to the dishwasher before any service or repairs .

The link Anna provided is very good and a close enough model to use the instructions. I added this: Video and images of the parts breakdown for the water feed and the pump area. Protect your hands as there may be sharp objects in this area such as broken bones, pieces of plastic or glass.

I hope this information helps. If further assistance is needed, please reply. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank for the 665-15958793 model number. I believe the picture below may be worth a 1000 words. There are two springs but I believe you are asking about the drawbar spring.

I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional questions for further assistance.

The spring I am referring to is not the drawbar spring! When you open the door to the dishwasher to add soap, you have to unlatch the soap dispenser cover and the snap it closed. When the cycle reaches wash, the cover "springs" open and releases the soap powder to the wash cyle. The spring that activates this spring open cover is the one I'm talking about! The shape of the spring is 2 coils, two ends and a center square shape. I can't figure out how to latch it to the cover to provide this spring action!!

I have a similar problem. My model # is 665.1677991. The picture provided by Fred M is the same as on my dishwasher (except color). My question is how do I install the cover? It looks like it should just snap off and new one snap on. Should not have to worry about spring. I am hesitant to use to much force to "unsnap" the cover. The part No. for the cover is 3378138. thanks for any help

The hinge pin, ink supply used in picture in place of hinge pin, holds the cover in place. The cover does not snap in place. It is a tight fit trying to install or remove the cover. the hinge pin can break ir moved to far. As you can see from the picture the one on the cover we have here has broken and we had to find a substitute out of a pen.

Fred M, Thank you for the response. I cannot tell from the picture but has your soap dispenser been removed from the door or is it still a part of the door? Does it (the dispenser itself) need to be removed from the door to replace the lid. Unlike "John" my spring is fine. I just need to replace the cover because the gasket gets misaligned and causes the lid leak and not release due to caked soap. My dispenser has a hinge pin with a "nail head" on one end and the door has ends that come down over the pin head. In this configuration I see no way of removing the pin. Thanks again. Bob

Bob, you should be able to replace the door without removing the dispenser.
