Q:

Why won't my Kenmore dishwasher model 665.15958792 clean properly?

A:

If the dishwasher is not filling properly then the spray pressure will be weak. I recommend that you check the water fill level first. Start a cycle and allow the dishwasher to fill. Crack the door to stop the cycle when the filling stops. Open the door and look at the water level in the bottom of the sump. The water level should be within 1/4" to just touching the heating element in the bottom of the tub. If the fill level is low, I recommend that you try manually adding hot water with a container to see if the spray pressure will increase and the wash performance improves in the dishwasher. If it does then your washing problems are likely limited to the low water level. Check the water supply cut-off valve for the dishwasher to make sure that it is fully open. To access the water supply, you can reverse the installation procedures in this installation guide: Installation Instructions . Be sure that you have the water supply shut off and the electrical breaker shut off to disconnect power before pulling the dishwasher out from under the counter. Disconnect the water supply tube from the inlet water valve assembly. Check the inlet screen on the water valve for debris or deposits. You may need to replace the inlet water valve (part 8283346). You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Place the end of the water line in a shallow container and briefly open the water cut-off valve to check the water pressure and flow from the supply line. If it is weak then a plumber will likely be needed to resolve your water supply problem.

These tips may help you resolve the cleaning problem in your dishwasher. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
