Question and Answers

Q:

Dishwasher leaking from bottom/center 66515739000 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

A cracked or worn door seal will lead to a water leak. Check around the door opening and at the bottom of the door for a damaged gasket and replace it if needed. Stuck or broken spray arm. Water shooting out of the spray arm can hit with such force that it can leak through the door, and could also create a wave that will splash over the tub lip and out the door. Make sure no item in the dishwasher is blocking the movement of the spray arm, and inspect the spray arm for cracks or damage. Replace if needed.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

the door will not close so the machine will not work, how do I repair this? 66515739000 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore dishwasher.

From the information you have provided above,  I would suggest checking/replacing the latch assembly. A part of this may have been damaged and does not allow the door to close and lock, therefore the dishwasher thinks it’s open so it won’t operate. I would check into the latch and make sure its functioning properly if not replace it.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

There are a couple of things to consider on resetting your unit. I have included a link below that expands on the concept of pressing the button for 4 seconds. The technician also offers an alternative reason if pressing the button is unsuccessful. Within this link is another link available to you. This link will direct you to Sears Home Services Repair, should you need someone to come to your home. You will be receiving an expert response from our team within a day or two. I hope this is helpful to you and have a nice morning.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dishwasher. There are usually two causes for this type of problem. Either the controls are locked or the button has a shorted or stuck connection. Since you tried to unlock the controls, and it didn't work, then this is not the problem. The keypad or the control board is the issue. There is normally a test to determine which one is the problem, but without your model number, I can not provide this for you. If you could please reply with this information, I can then provide a more detailed answer. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

AnneJ. Thanks for your input. The model is 66515739000. As a side note, I unplugged the unit and the lock button came on not flashing. I hit cancel and the dishwasher began washing. The pots and pans was lit up. It started then stopped. Again started washing then stopped. It seems there is a programming issue. But I would like to try the final test, if you can direct me. Thanks

Anne, I've narrowed it down to the microcomputer to be issue. But I'm curious if the keypad has any defect. If it does I would need the console assembly. Whenever you have the chance, i look forward to hearing from you the test you mentioned about. Thanks

Thank you for replying with your model number. I did some further research on this model and found that the diagnostic test for this model will not run without the Air Dry button. It is part of the key dance that you will need to be. I have included an image of the instructions below. I would suggest however that you replace the keypad. You can order a new one at the link below. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Anne, Sears looked up the issue and suggested it is the microcomputer issue according to their notes. Are you suggesting only the key pad be replaced? The keypad is housed within the console assembly? I'm unsure which to order. If I order both the microcomputer at $129 plus the console assembly at $165 price comes up to $294 before taxes and shipping. I Might as well purchasea new dishwasher for $400.

Aren, I found a more technical test that you can try. This will determine if the keypad or the control is the problem. It is fairly simple so you can do this yourself, just follow the directions in the image below. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Hi I seem to have the exact same problem with my dishwasher. When I pulled the ribbon cable and closed the unit per the instructions , powered it up and then closed the door nothing happened. So I then plugged the ribbon cable back in and closed everything up powered it on and closed the door again and the drain motor came on for 2 minutes. So I assume that means its the controller? Is that right? I thought after I did all that I would run it like I normally would just to see what happens. I pressed normal wash, Sani-rinse and start. It started running and displayed 76 minutes. Its now down to 72 minutes and seems to be running normal, weird. Usually I cannot get it to finish filling with water before the lock button comes on and the whole thing shut down. Thanks, William
