Question and Answers

Q:

Need help troubleshooting Kenmore dishwasher.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If a key without a light is stuck or multiple keys are stuck or shorted, the control will flash the Rinse cycle key light until the condition is corrected. This means the control panel is shorted and will need to be replaced.

The console is only available in black. The part number of the control panel for Kenmore dishwasher model 665.15689000 is #3385370 which can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.com

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Kenmore 665.15689000 Dishwasher.  If the Quick Rinse light is flashing then the thermal fuse is okay and is not the problem.  There were some models that if the unit stopped in the middle of the cycle the problem was the control board.  The cause would be high voltage such as 125 volts.  The control was redisigned to handle the higher voltage.  If the voltage is normal then the usual suspect when one light is flashing is a stuck or shorted keypad.  If the voltage is okay and you have a flashing light then one trick is to turn the power off, remove the console to access the ribbon connector.  Remove the connector from the main control then after a minute re-attach the ribbon and see if there is any improvement.   I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

The undoing the connector worked for a little while but it has locked up many times since then. I take it apart and undo the connector and it will work for 1 or 2 cycles and then locks up again. Is it the control pad or control board that is my problem. I don't mind fixing it but I also don't want to just throw money at it. Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect the ribbon is at fault but the ribbon only comes with the console so I believe the console needs to be replaced.

Ok I bought the console. But before it got here the dishwasher quit working all together. I am not getting any flashing lights or anything. I am getting power to the unit. Is there any kind of breakers, relays, or fuses that I can check? I also have installed new panel with no help to the problem.

A:

Nicholas: The thermal fuse for your model is part #675813. If this is the same part number of the thermal fuse installed and it opened, each one of the electrical components will need to be Ohmed for proper resistance using the tech sheet I added below in the images.

Thanks for the information about the portable dishwasher; sorry you are having a problem with water entering. Unfortunately the model number you provided is not correct, so I will only be able to provide a general answer. First be sure the faucet attachment is properly on the water supply and the water is turned on. The door must be closed completely and locked.   Look Inside the dishwasher tub. (Front right on most models) you will see a float assembly. Be sure this float does not have something lodged under it, as this will keep the water from coming into the tub. If you are hearing a buzzing sound when water should be coming into the tub, then the inlet valve is being activated by the water level switch and the timer.  In this case no water coming in would mean a bad inlet valve or not water supply to the valve.  I hope this helps, if you need additional assistance please reply with a complete model number off the dishwasher and added details and I will be happy to respond.Ron H. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services
