Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher is not working properly.

The float lifts as the water level in the dishwasher rises, and when the proper water level is reached, the stem of the float activates the float switch to turn off the water inlet valve. A malfunctioning float or float switch could cause the water level to be too high and create a leak.

Use your multitester to test the switch. Set the device to the ohms setting x 1. Take each probe and touch them to one switch terminal each. This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity.

W10648041 inlet valve to test.
8268895 float to test.

Q:

how do you check if a drain pump is defective or not? 66513892k801

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your drain pump on your dishwasher is not working properly. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information to assist you.

Unplug your dishwasher or turn off power source to avoid risk of electrical shock
Before continuing, check to see how many wires your dishwasher motor has. If it has 2 or 3 wires, continue. If it has 4 wires, skip this test because you have a reversing motor and do not have a drain valve.
You will need to check your pump with an OHMs meter.
If the multimeter shows a reading of 0 to 40 ohms of resistance, then the valve is good
