Q:

Is it ok to operate dishwasher 66513852K601 Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your dishwasher. Upon researching model 66513852K601; the float has a retainer that holds it on. It might still function without the retainer but the float prevents the unit from overfilling or under filling. I recommend ordering one to replace it.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Shutting off the breaker for several minutes to completely disconnect electrical power may reset the control board. You indicated that powered off the dishwasher for several days. If you did not shut off the circuit breaker when you powered it off, I recommend that you try that first.

It sounds like the control may be in the Sales Demo mode. Try pressing these buttons quickly in this order to disable that mode:

HI-TEMP, HEATED DRY, HEATED DRY, HI-TEMP, HEATED DRY, HEATED DRY

The control may work properly after performing that key dance. The keys need to be firmly pressed rather quickly (within about 5 second for the total key dance).

If this does not work, then you could have a bad user interface or a problem with the control board. Make sure that you used the correct part number when you replaced the electronic control board in the dishwasher. The part number should be W10084141. Make sure that the wires were connected properly as well. Be sure that you shut off the circuit breaker to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

I did turn the circuit breaker off for 3 days. I also replaced Electronic Control (W10084141), Console Assembly (8572839), and Door Switch (8269209) from SearsPartsDirect Web Site.Per expert instructions, turned circuit breaker on, closed door pressed Hi-Temp, Heated Dry, Heated Dry, Hi Temp, Heated Dry, Heated Dry within 5 seconds. Lights lit up as touched and nothing happened. Pressed Normal Wash and Start Resume buttons. Both lights and Heated Dry light lit up, washing light went on and off then the Start Resume light started flashing. Then the Normal and Heated lights started flashing and nothing happened. Pressed Start Resume button again and all 3 lights kept flashing. Opened door , Normal and Heated lights stayed on and Start light started falshing. Closed door all 3 lights started flashing, pressed Start and nothing happened, pressed Cancel, all lights went off and console starting clicking.Turned circuit breaker off. What else can I do??

Here are some additional tips: You indicated that you replaced the door latch microswitch part 8269209. If you have a plastic tub in the dishwasher, there should be 2 of these switches in the door latch assembly. Both switches need to be closed for the dishwasher to start. The first image below shows the door switch circuit traced in red and green. I recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker and check the door switch circuits for continuity with the latch in the closed position. A mechanical problem with the latch itself could prevent the dishwasher from starting if the door switches are not closed when the door is shut. I also recommend that you check the wire harness connections on the control board using the wiring diagram shown in the second image. Make sure that all connections are securely plugged in. Check for corrosion or damage on all wire harness plugs. You may need to repeat the DEMO mode key dance to make sure that the control is not in that condition. The next step in troubleshooting would be to place the dishwasher in the diagnostic test cycle. I provided information on that procedure in the third image below. If the control will enter the diagnostic test cycle, it will step through a short cycle and check all of the components. This may help you determine the cause of your problem with the dishwasher starting. Further checks may be needed based on the results of the diagnostic test cycle. I provided the tech sheet troubleshooting checks for the problem that you are describing in the 4th image below. Those checks focus on the door switches and the wire harness connections. I hope that this additional information helps. Reply with additional details if you need more assistance.

You could have a problem with the voltage supply going to the control board. I recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker and check the wiring in the junction box. If that does not help, then you will probably need to have the technician examine the dishwasher. The technician will probably need to perform some voltage checks to determine the cause of your problem.

Kenmore Elite 665.17462300 - Followed diagnostic cycle. All LEDs lit. Did not open door. Lights went out. Ran through normal cycle by itself. No problems. Still did not open door nor touch buttons, but the dishwasher started another cycle by itself. Stopped after 5 minutes...again with "Smart Wash/Normal Wash" LED lights blinking. Reset breaker. All lights out - hit "Cancel Drain" and it worked. Now..."Smart Wash and Rinse Aid Empty" blink. No other buttons will work without resetting breaker.
