Question and Answers

Q:

Why is the top arm not moving on my Kenmore dishwasher model 665.13844K600?

A:

Here are some tips that may help you resolve this type of problem in your dishwasher:

  • Check the water level in the dishwasher. Start a cycle and allow the dishwasher to fill. As soon as the filling stops, crack open the door to stop the dishwasher. Open the door fully and look at the water level in the bottom of the tub. It should be within 1/4" to just touching the bottom of the heater element. If it is too low, manually add water up to the proper level and see if the dishwasher sprays properly. If it does then I recommend that you check the water cut-off valve to make sure that it is fully open. If necessary, reverse the installation instructions to pull the dishwasher out from under the counter and check the water pressure from the water supply line. Here is a link for your installation guide in case you need it Installation Instructions . (Be sure that you shut off the breaker and the water supply valve before removing the dishwasher from under the counter.)
  • If the water fill level is okay, I recommend that you check the spray arms for cracks or splits. Check the spray holes for deposits or restrictions.
  • The next step in troubleshooting would be to access the chopper blade area of the sump to check for a clog or restriction. Remove the dish racks and follow the steps in the image below to access the chopper blade area of the sump. Your dishwasher likely has a turbo zone spray assembly but the procedure is basically the same. You may find a clog or restriction in the sump area that is causing your weak spray pressure. If you are able to clear the restriction you may be able to fix this problem.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details (and the full model number of your dishwasher after rechecking it).

Q:

Why is the spray arm not spinning on my Kenmore dishwasher?

A:

If the dishwasher has plenty of water in the tub & is not spraying water out of the spray arms I suspect the wash motor impeller or pump assembly. If the impeller is good I recommend replacing the pump/motor assembly. You can also have the pump/motor assembly rebuilt with new internal parts. I recommend replacing the complete assembly part number W10237169.

If the unit is not filling with enough water I recommend replacing the water valve.
