Q:

A Sears phone rep just told me that I have to check the filter in my Kenmore 66513843k600 dishwasher before they'll send someone. No instructions in manual

A:

Good afternoon.... I can fully understand the strange predicament you're in. The Service Smart Agreement will send a technician to you no matter what the reason. You might have been ill advised. I did locate a link that will discuss this situation in greater detail. Though this link discusses a different model number, the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and instruction. I hope this link will help guide you to cleaning your filter and have a nice day.

Thank you for your help. I am trying to print out those instructions, and will also wait for the response from Sears. I'm not excited about trying to do this myself, because the agreement clearly shows that if the machine is in a disassembled state when the repair person arrives, the repair will not be covered. Well, I'm no expert at taking things apart and getting them back together the right way. I thought this Service Smart agreement covered everything. Maybe not... Thanks again for your help!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The flashing normal light is likely indicating a problem with the touch panel; however it could also indicate a failure in the circuit that reads the key buttons. In order to diagnose if the problem is with the control panel or control board will require testing the control panel key pads with an Ohm meter. If all the buttons are making contact per the instructions I added in the image below, I would have to suspect a faulty control board.

NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before removing the control panel and testing the key pad functions.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Hi Cristiane,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

From your description the most likely cause of this issue is a faulty console. Testing for this will require the use of a multimeter. I am including the test information in the images below. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please utilize the checks below.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details, in a reply to this post.
