Q:

Selding 66513839K601

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore dishwasher model 66513839K601. I am so sorry the heating coil cracked. I understand your desire to fix the part rather than replace it. In this case I strongly recommend against it.

Heating elements are made to distribute heat evenly. Welding the parts together could create a hot spot which could cause a fire. Also most repairs of this type do not last very long and you will eventually need to replace the part anyway. Why do a temporary fix that may actually make the problem worse? I recommend replacing the element so you know the dishwasher is fixed properly. I have included the link below for you to order the element.

I have also included the link to our repair guide on replacing the part.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. Internal parts may have sharp edges that can cause serious cuts. Use caution and wear work gloves. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Hello Rachel, I have soldered the very end of the element just the brass nut part, not the actual element due to the nut being cracked. I presume this is ok as i have had no issues. Thanks, Matt
