Q:

Dishwasher will not start.

A:

Thank you for contacting ManageMyLife.com regarding the clean light flashing on your Kenmore dishwasher. I'm happy to help you today.

The blinking clean light on this model indicates a heater circuit failure. The electronic control board did not detect the expected rise in water temperature during the water heating portion of the wash cycle. This can be caused by a failed heating element or a number of other component problems.

I recommend carefully checking the heating element for any visible signs of damage or failure. If you do not see any apparent problem, you can reset this fault code by pressing the following buttons in this order (this key dance should be completed within about 5 seconds): HEATED DRY - NORMAL WASH - HEATED DRY - NORMAL WASH.

If this key dance is completed properly, all of the console lights will turn on for a few seconds and then shut off. The dishwasher will then begin a short diagnostic cycle. You can cancel this cycle with the CANCEL button. Try a test cycle and see if the heating element is working properly. If the heating element works properly and the blinking clean light does not return, you should be able to continue safely using the dishwasher. You may have received the code due to a low water level fill. Monitor the performance of the dishwasher. If the flashing clean light returns or you suspect any other problems, I recommend calling a service technician to examine the dishwasher. Service can be scheduled at Sears Home Services. If needed, parts can be purchased from Sears PartsDirect.

I really hope this information helps you today. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Q:

Dishwasher leaks by motor

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Kenmore 665.13839k600 Dishwasher.   This particular dishwasher is a little different from the older models.  The motor mounts horizontally.  There is a motor seal, see image below, that may leak.  There is also a sump seal  that may leak.  You might want to remove the kick plate so you can get a better look.   The motor twist off.  The entire sump can be removed for better access.   There are three clips that hold the sump in place.  If one clip is out of position then that might cause the leak.    The images below may be of assistance to you.  Remember to turn the power off first.  You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.   Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I had already took off the kick plate before and i can see drips of water coming from the bottom of the motor. I took the motor off to check the gasket between the motor and and the sump and it looked in good shape. This all started when the chopper blade came apart and got stuck in the impeller so the motor would not turn just make a noise. After i took out all the pieces of the chopper that were lodged in the impeller it worked again. Then i noticed the dripping water from the motor. If i can replace the impeller will it stop it from leaking? If so how does the impeller come off the motor. I don't want to replace the motor if i don't have to.
