Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing to check and confirm the proper voltage supply (120v) where it connects to the dishwasher. Disconnect the voltage supply before removing the wire nuts connecting the power supply to the dishwasher. NOTE: I do not recommend checking voltage unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

If the dishwasher is getting the proper voltage supply then I would suspect a faulty Thermal Cut Off (TCO) up inside the control panel. The TCO is connected in series with the voltage supply before the voltage supply line connects to the control board. The TCO will have solid Black wire and a Black wire with a white stripe connected to it. Disconnect the two wires and test across the TCO for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Open the door and remove the screws located behind the control panel in order to remove control panel and access the thermal cut off (TCO).

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher & the rinse agent does not dispense anymore. Any help on a fix?

A:

The rinse agent is dispensed around the cap you remove to fill it. To make it work again you will probably have to replace it.

I would try cleaning it out first and if it still doesn't work replace the dispenser. The detergent dispenser and the rinse aid dispenser are included in the same part.

To remove the rinse dispenser start by turning the power off to the dishwasher.

  • Open the door and remove the screws on either side of the door. Don't remove the screws at the top area that hold the control panel on. Hold the panel with one hand while you remove the last screw as it will fall.

  • Remove the screws holding the rinse dispenser to the door and disconnect the wires from the dispenser.Note the position of the wires for reinstallation.

You can now take the dispenser to the sink and wash the rinse dispenser out. Don't immerse the dispenser in water, run water inside the rinse dispenser and shake it to clean it. If this doesn't fix the problem use this same procedure to replace the dispenser.
