I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with the dishwasher. It sounds like the dispenser has failed and will most likely need to be replaced. However, I would suggest you try some troubleshooting on the dispenser first (see first image). This will include testing the connections on the dispenser for continuity. You will need an OHM/Volt meter for this.

If you don't feel comfortable doing the test, I would suggest that you schedule service, and have a technician diagnose and repair it. If you need to replace the dispenser, the second image will provide these instructions. You can order a new dispenser from this link: Sears Parts Direct If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

This is certainly the most unusual problem I've had today. If I understand correctly the dishwasher will run a complete cycle but will not drain unless you press the cancel/drain keypad.

This would likely be a control board problem but it's an odd way for the control to fail.

Try the rinse only cycle. This is a simple fill, wash then drain cycle that should take no more than 10 minutes or so. Try this and let me know if it still doesn't drain till you initiate a cancel/drain cycle. You can also let me know if you have a few basic tools and if you'd like to replace the control as a do-it-yourself project.
