Q:

how to change check valve 66513744K601 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing to replace your check valve in your dishwasher. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found instructions that will assist you in your repair.

First make sure to turn power off. Then remove lower dishrack.

Then pull tab back on water supply tube and rotate clockwise to remove. Remove the screws from the filter assembly and pull out. Remove the screws from the foriegn object protector.

Next remove the pump inlet protector by removing the screw. Remove the old check valve with pliers. Insert new check valve in slot.

Put your dishwasher back together and test the unit.

Let me know if this helps. Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

Dishwasher Clean light flashes 7 times

A:

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. The blinking clean light could be caused by a component failure such as a failed heating element. It can also be caused by several other failures such as a thermostat (thermistor) or a wiring problem. A door switch problem or lack of fill water could also trip this fault code. Instead of buying a new dishwasher, I recommend resetting the code and following the troubleshooting steps below:

  • To reset the control, press the following button in this order within 5 seconds: HEATED DRY, NORMAL WASH, HEATED DRY, NORMAL WASH. After hitting these buttons, all of the control lights will turn on and then the dishwasher will go through a short test cycle. After this test cycle, the control will be reset.
  • After the short test cycle is completed, start a new normal wash cycle. Crack the door to interrupt the cycle as soon as the filling has stopped and before the spray starts. Check the water level inside the tub. The water should be within 1/4" to just touching the bottom of the heating element. If it is low, you could have low water pressure, a clogged fill line or an inlet water valve problem.
  • If the water level is normal, let the cycle run. If the clean light flashing fault occurs again, then you could have a bad heating element or one of the other problems mentioned above. Carefully check the heating element to see if it is heating properly. If not, replacing the element should fix your problem.

If you reset the control and the clean light fault code does not return, you should be able to continue using the dishwasher normally. Monitor the dishwasher for proper heating and water fill. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thanks for your advice. The upper spray feed tube had become displaced from the holder on the rack. I placed it back properly in the holder, reset the control, and the machine is now functioning normally. Thanks again!
