Dezeray, thanks for your comment. A service call would be appropriate if there is something wrong with the spray arm. However, if this is a widespread problem due to the repeated impact of hot water on the plastic basket, then simply replacing the basket would be a less expensive solution. As far as I can tell, the diswasher is still doing a good job cleaning the dishes. Thanks again, Sid

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand your concern with your dishwasher. I did look into the item and there is no recall or service flashes showing for this or any other issue. Generally when something like this occurs it would either be due to age, the water, or accidental damage to the basket. The most likely cause for something like this is just the normal wear and tear and the age. I do hope this helps.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

If the upper spray arms and the feed tube to the upper spray arms are not blocked, I suspect an issue with the pump. Here is a video that demonstrates disassembling the sump assembly; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The dishwasher in this video may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same. Make sure there is not an accumulation of food debris in the sump.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

Your details of the symptom indicate a broken motor coupler. When the motor coupler breaks the motor is no longer linked to the gear case so you will not get any agitation action or spinning action, it will only drain.

The motor coupler part number is 285753A. The coupler can purchased from this link.

  • You will need to remove the cabinet from the washer to access the motor coupling.

  • The console has to be opened to remove the cabinet. Please use the image below to aid in opening the console.

  • Disconnect the 3 wire lid switch harness plug located on the top. Pop the two (2) gold colored cabinet clips (key#6) off as shown in the image below.

  • Place the tip of a flat tipped screw driver down into the first valley and then push the handle end to the rear of the washer to pop off the cabinet clips.

  • Open the lid and grab the opening and tilt the top of the washer cabinet forwards just a few degrees and then walk it backwards and off.

  • Remove the water pump by prying the two (2) pump retainer clips off.

  • Leave the two (2) pump hoses connected to the pump and shove the pump over to the left and out of the way of the motor.

  • Disconnect the motor wire harness plug from the motor.

  • Pry the two (2) motor retainer clips off. Note: if there is a screw threaded through the motor retainer clips, remove the screws before prying the motor retainer clips off.

  • Remove the motor.

You now have access to the motor coupler. The motor coupler consists of three (3) parts. One fits on the gear case input shaft, one fits on the motor shaft and the rubber isolator links the two together once the motor is reinstalled.

See images below for further instructions.

Reverse the procedure to re-assemble the washer.

p.s. I have added an image of how the door link is connected. You will needs to pull the dishwasher out to install them.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
